+ WHAT IS AN ESCAPE ROOM?

At NorCal Escape Co. you and a group of others will be placed inside a themed room for a specified amount of time. Participants must work together to find items, discover clues and solve puzzles in hopes of escaping or completing a mission before time runs out.

+ WILL I ACTUALLY BE LOCKED IN THE ROOM?

SPOILER ALERT! Nahh. The doors you enter will remain unlocked at all times, so you can exit in the case of emergency. We do ask that you try your best not to exit for any other reason, so you and your fellow participants are able to maintain the immersion of the experience.

+ ARE THE “CLUES” OBVIOUS?

Anything inside the rooms COULD be used in some capacity. That being said, not everything is something. Don’t pry, or smash, or break anything...if it doesn’t happen easily, it’s not meant to be used in that way. If anything is intentionally destroyed, you will immediately be removed and your money will not be refunded.

+ HOW DIFFICULT IS THIS?

You may have noticed, we've rated the difficulty of our rooms on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being the easiest and 5 being the most difficult. This is solely based on our own rooms...our Level 5 maybe another Escape Room company's Level 3, and vice-versa. The Fox Tail Saloon is the "easier" of the rooms we currently have running, so for people that are new to the Escape genre, we would suggest getting your feet wet in the Saloon before diving into CONDEMNED2.

+ IS IT SCARY?

We like to think of CONDEMNED as "creepy" moreso than scary. The story line is dark. The lighting is dim. The vibe is eerie. But "scary" isn't how we would describe the experience. It is not a haunted house.

The Fox Tail Saloon is absolutely NOT scary. It's an old west saloon, that has been converted into a modern-day museum. It is DEFINITELY not a haunted house. Likewise, the Escape Truck is not a scary experience.

+ HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE?

CONDEMNED participants MUST be 13 years or older - younger than 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will be required to sign a waiver on their behalf.

The Saloon and The Escape Truck are both 10 years or older, and also require a parent or guardian to accompany and sign on the behalf of anyone under the age of 16.

+ CAN WE BRING A BABY?

Assuming you mean a literal baby, and not just an emotionally unstable adult, unfortunately, the answer is no. We like (most) babies, but due to insurance restrictions, we cannot allow you to bring them with you...even strapped to your chest. Sorry.

+ HOW LONG BEFORE MY SCHEDULED TIME SLOT DO I NEED TO ARRIVE?

Please arrive 15 minutes before the time slot you purchased your ticket(s) for, as you will need to sign in and sit through a short briefing before beginning your experience.

+ IF I’M LATE, CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?

Maybe! It depends HOW late. Once you've completed your waivers and gone through the briefing, we will get you started as soon as we are able to, but we may have to deduct time from your game. That's always an awkward conversation to have, so puhleeeease show up on time (15 minutes early) and don't make us have to be the bad guys.

+ WHEN ARE YOU OPEN?

We run Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Please see our Tickets page for specific show times and availability.

If you are interested in booking a private experience outside of our standard operating hours, please send us an email with your preferred date and time and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

+ DO YOU OFFER GIFT CARDS?

We do! You can purchase those here

+ HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN PARTICIPATE AT ONCE?

The Fox Tail Saloon allows groups of 4 to 8 participants.

CONDEMNED2 accomodates groups of 4-10. This experience requires at least 4 people to operate.

The Escape Truck admits 4 participants.

+ WILL I BE SHARING THE ROOM WITH OTHER PARTICIPANTS?

All of our experiences are now 100% private, so you are guaranteed to have it to yourself. No random strangers you'll be forced to play with.

+ CAN I ADD MORE PEOPLE?

If purchasing less than the room capacity limit (ie. you book 4 of 10 tickets for CONDEMNED), you may add participants, up to that limit (in this example, up to 6 more), and you may pay the additional cost upon arrival before you begin your experience.

+ CAN I CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE MY RESERVATION?

All bookings are final. Once a reservation has been made, no refunds will be issued. If we allowed cancellations or reschedules, we run the risk of not being able to re-sell those newly vacated spots and end up losing money.

+ WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

You don't need to bring anything with you...everything that you'll need to successfully escape is already in the room and waiting to be discovered.

+ WHAT SHOULDN’T I BRING?

DO NOT bring flashlights, notepads, pens, calculators, or anything that may give you an unfair advantage. No weapons of any sort: no guns, knives, pepper spray, tasers, tridents, catapults, throwing stars, harpoons, crossbows, boomerangs, shanks, shivs, banana peels or anything else that may inflict bodily harm.

For sanitary reasons, we are suspending the use of our lockers, so we will be allowing phones to stay on your person, however, we do not allow usage of phones during game play.

Please do not wear high-heels. The flooring in some locations is uneven and may even have gaps which could prove hazardous.

Open containers of any kind are not allowed. If you're carefully reading this far into the frequently asked questions, you're probably not the type of person that would sneak alcohol in a tumbler cup. And if you are that type of person, you're probably not reading this anyway, but we have to cover our bases.

+ WHAT IF SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONS?

There are a lot of very intricate details that come together like clockwork to deliver you a top-notch thrill ride of an experience, night after night, but even clocks can malfunction. In this very rare occasion, the NCEC crew will temporarily pause the challenge until the issue is resolved and you can safely resume.

+ DO YOU DO TEAM BUILDING EVENTS?

Absolutely! Escape rooms are great for Team Building exercises. Click here to view/download our Team Building eBooklet. If you're interested in booking something outside of our normal business hours, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your team.

+ DO WE WIN ANYTHING IF WE ESCAPE?

Of course. You get bragging rights! You may also choose from either (not both...don't get greedy!) a high-five or a fist-bump from our host. We recommend the high-five, it's a classic.

Oh....we're also giving away exclusive NCEC wristbands with the logo of the room you successfully conquered. Collect all 3 rooms and get a bonus prize. YAY!

+ IF I COME BACK A SECOND TIME, IS IT THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE?

In CONDEMNED2, no. It was designed specifically to be played from 2 separate paths for the majority of the experience, allowing participants to return and attempt a new set of puzzles they didn't encounter the first time through.

Otherwise, for the most part, yes...we aren't able to change up the larger gags and puzzles, but we'll mix up some of the smaller stuff to keep you on your toes and make sure you don't breeze through the challenge.

All that we ask of returners is that you not spoil anything for the rookies in your group. Please be courteous and allow them to have the same majestic experience you had your first time through. Play the game as it's meant to be played...don't skip any steps. Try to avoid any of the bigger/cooler gags and focus on the things that you didn't find before. If you're not able to do this, if you decide you're going to blast through the room because you've memorized certain things, thus robbing newcomers of the full experience, you will be forced to live with a guilty conscience!

+ WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED AND WHERE DO WE PARK?

The new NorCal Escape Co. is located at 3076, UNIT B, Colusa Hwy in West Yuba City, just off of George Washington, behind Applied Technologies. Look for the flags! We have ample parking available.

+ ARE YOUR GAMES WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

Both CONDEMNED2 and The Fox Tail Saloon are wheelchair accessible, however The Escape Truck is not, due to the fact that it's played in the back of a truck in tight quarters.

+ DO YOU HAVE RESTROOMS?

We do! (luxurious, right?)

+ ANY ADVICE?

Sure....

Communication is KEY!

If you find something, announce it to the group. If you need something, announce it. You will not escape without working together as a team.

Follow the rules!

And you won’t be disqualified, plain and simple.

Stay sober!

For your safety and the safety of those around you, if anyone appears to be under the influence of any substance, they will be turned away, and again, NO REFUNDS!
